Traditionally seen in warmer climates, the technique for making seersucker cloth originates from arab nations. The word originates from the Persian words shr () and shakar () meaning "milk and sugar", from the gritty texture ("sugar") on the smooth ("milk") cloth. You can see this effect with the uneven look and feel of the fabric.

Compared with a classic seersucker, Lite Year have used a version with an oversized stripe that adds a much more casual look to the fabric.
