This jacket is an absolute masterclassperfecting techniques has spent decades perfecting.
Distressing, repairing, patching and reinforcing cloth, the level of detail within each garment is almost impossible to document in text or images. Sashiko embroidery criss-crosses the entire jacket, made with a host of different patterns and directions which hold together multiple patches and repairs. This technique has been employed by working class Japanese people for generations as a way of extending the life of treasured garments.
The lining features a tsugihagi () "patchwork" digital print, doing away with real patches on the inside and allowing the jacket to be worn comfortable from new.
